Ralf Aron has left the hospital after suffering severe injuries from a high-impact crash during last weekend’s Meguiar’s Bathurst 12 Hour event. The Mercedes-AMG factory driver sustained two fractured vertebrae when his leading Craft-Bamboo Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo collided with the stationary Tsunami RT Porsche 911 GT3 R driven by Johannes Zelger in the latter stages of the Intercontinental GT Challenge season opener, an incident that triggered a nearly hour-long red flag.

Aron was taken by ambulance to Orange Hospital. On Monday, he disclosed the extent of his injuries, noting that he can currently stand and walk short distances, but he will remain in Sydney for now because he has not yet been medically cleared to fly. He was pictured wearing a medical brace.

The 27-year-old from Estonia also shared that both of his parents have traveled to Australia to support his recovery.

The crash has drawn intense scrutiny, with Motorsport Australia launching an investigation into the absence of yellow flags or warnings from officials or trackside marshals regarding Zelger’s stationary car in a blind corner.

Craft-Bamboo Racing confirmed that the impact was measured at 27G.

“We have requested a review of the flag and safety procedures with race control to drastically improve safety in this area,” the Hong Kong-flagged team stated.

The team also extended heartfelt thanks to fans for their messages of support. While the crash halted the race for a lead-position crash, those who witnessed the incident agreed that it was an unavoidable accident for the driver. The priority remains that Ralf Aron is okay.
