Early benchmarks of the Snapdragon X2 Elite have surfaced, and they're impressive. The YouTube channel Hardware Canucks put the new ASUS Zenbook A14, powered by this chip, through its paces. Despite being a pre-production model, the results are eye-opening.
In Cinebench 2024, the X2 Elite outperformed its predecessor, the Snapdragon X Elite, by a whopping 48.7% in multi-core tests. It also beat Apple's M5 processor by 24.2%. But here's the twist: in single-core performance, the M5 still holds the edge, with the X2 Elite falling short by 27%.
And this is where it gets interesting. The X2 Elite also excelled in Blender and Handbrake tasks, leaving both the X Elite and M5 in its wake. However, the M5 maintained its lead in DaVinci Resolve 20.3.
So, what does this mean for the Galaxy Book Edge? If Samsung opts for the X2 Elite, we could be looking at a significant performance boost. But here's the catch: it's all dependent on the final production model and how Samsung optimizes the chip for its laptop.
For those new to the game, the X2E-88-100, introduced in September 2025, is the second variant in Qualcomm's X2 laptop processor family. Built on TSMC's 3nm process, it boasts 18 cores, including 12 prime cores running up to 4.7 GHz and 6 performance cores up to 3.4 GHz. It also features an X2-90 GPU and an NPU capable of 80 TOPS.
